Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving. What are some of the first things we think of when we hear that word? Pilgrims and Indians? Dear family? Good food? Counting your blessings?

"Let us come before him with thanksgiving"
Psalms 95:2

Thanksgiving is more than a holiday. Giving thanks is what we should do every day.

Thanksgiving n.
the expression of gratitude, esp. to God

I am so thankful that God has helped me in times of need. That he guides my path for His name's sake. And that He is the author and perfecter of our faith. God is so amazing. We must thank and honor Him for his amazing work in our lives. Will you thank Him now?

"I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, his works are perfect"
Deuteronomy 32:3-4

Many blessings!

A little Rascal

What would you do if the house became suddenly silent. The kind of silence which makes you quickly jump up and investigate.... And you found...

A happy little boy, cheerfully playing in the sink.
How'd he get up there? The highchair of course!

Stopping for a drink from the ladle...

but the running water is the best.

Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Finally brethren. . .

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and
if there be any praisethink on these things.

Philippines 4:8

   Have a beautiful day!

Anne with a spark of Scarlett inspiration

I've had so much fun making this blouse for the Historical Costume Inspiration Festival!

My inspiration was Anne's lovely blouse:

This was my favorite outfit in the whole movie.

We used New Look 6599 as a base pattern but my mom and I altered the neck line, lengthened the sleeves quite a bit, drafted a sleeve cuff, and added elastic. Whew! ; )
My mother is an amazing seamstress and this blouse wouldn't be possible without her help!
Thank-you Mama! ♥

Here it is...
(You can click on all the pictures below to make them bigger.)

We picked out some pretty lacy netlike fabric for the top of the blouse.
It was too thin and delicate, so one night I was staring at the curtains in my bedroom when Scarlet O'Hara came to mind. The curtain was perfect! Mama agreed and the next day we bought a panel.

Trim from the bottom of the panel.

We didn't have time to make the long edwardian skirt to go with it.

I had make a light corduroy skirt a few years before, and, with a brown ribbon, it finished the outfit.

The sleeves are the best part. : )

Serious.

Done!

Thanks for taking the time to look!

                Blessings,

Black and White

There's a black and white photo challenge over at Aspire.

Aspire Photo Challenge

I love black and white. And I love capturing pictures at the right moment.
It took me a while to find the one I liked the most.

This one of my sweet little cousin Maddox was just right. : )

See ya'll later!

::On the Dove Field::

Hi Y'all! My dad, brother, cousin and I went dove hunting this passed weekend!

^loading the 4-10^

The weather was amazing! It felt like fall was really here!

Looking out for doves.

Dylan.

We got to the field at about 2:00. The doves didn't fly until around 3-4:00.
Meanwhile I took pictures, worked on a hat for the children in Romania, and read a little. : )

A hat in the making.

Every time a gun went off...

... Dylan covered his ears.

Coming back with a dove.

Dad keeping a lookout.

I shot one dove. ; )

Dylan was Benjamin's "bird boy!"

It was a long day. But very profitable. : )

:::

Here's the Bible verse in Spanish as promised.

"Antes, en todas estas cosas somos más que vencedores por medio de aquel que nos amó.
Por lo cual estoy seguro de que ni la muerte, ni la vida, ni ángeles, ni principados, ni potestades, ni lo presente, ni lo por venir, ni lo alto, ni lo profundo, ni ninguna otra cosa creada nos podrá separar del amor de Dios, que es en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro."
Romans 8:37-39

What did ya'll do this weekend?

Y'all have a blessed day!
