Of Canning and a . . . haircut?

We canned green beans yesterday and were able to acquire 14 jars! I believe they are quart size.

Yes, I'm afraid the jars are really crooked in the picture.
The rock they are on is not so smooth...

Such a lovely green!

My little cousin, Haydon.

Isn't he a cute? But be warned! There is always mischief sparkling from those blue eyes!

Helping with the cucumbers.

By now you're probably wondering what this all has to do with haircuts. I shall relieve you of your suspense with a short story:

"Once upon a time a little boy of 4 went to visit his aunt, uncle, and cousins. Haydon, for that was his name, went one beautiful summer's day to play outside! He explored the small plot with great delight when he all-of-a-sudden came upon the most dreadful of occurrences! A pair of scissors!

Soon he was merrily sniping away at the lovely golden curls by his forehead! His eldest cousin was promptly horrified to find such a tragedy had happened and vowed never again to leave her scissors outside."

The End

Hope this story has made you laugh. But never, under any circumstances leave a child alone with a pair of scissors!

Blessings, dear readers!

Summer with a Purpose~Week 2

Hello all! Hope ya'll had a beautiful week! For this wk of Summer with a Purpose, my cousins came over! We picked wild blackberries along the quiet dirt roads and sang until we were hoarse! We also journeyed to the river for some swimming down the rapids! Work in the garden was fun as well!

Cucumber blossom!

Working on the massive bush beans. They sure got big!!!

Some lovely helpers!

^What we harvested^

I also got some sketching in! I based this drawing of a little boy from one of Tasha Tudor's drawings:

Of Sunshine and Seashore

We had a glorious time at the beach last week! My family and I went to Amelia Island, FL and stayed in a beautiful condo 2 blocks from the ocean!

The shore was covered with seashells!

A small wave

This is not a sea turtle. A man came by and showed my family this little guy. He had found it by the shore and explained that the turtle had wondered from the mainland.
It sure was cute!

We took a tour of the downtown and boat docks.

Sleepy baby.

A tranquil sunset over the harbour.

I love taking pictures of ropes. ; )

I'm Really Off!!!

Now I'm really off! See you dear folk in a week!
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
"With Christ as my vessel I can smile at the storm!"

A Day in the Life of a Little Boy

We won't be going to the beach until next week unfortunately. For now Haydon has come for a visit! We have had so much fun today with him!

Caught red handed!

He's listening for the water!
Don't you just love the curl on top of his head?!

He was excited to water the squash plant!

Trying to distract Haydon after  I turn off the water, which he did not like, I found a mushroom and exclaimed over it for a minute until he came over. "What is that?" I cried.

He strode up, looked surprised at me, and said, "What's that?!"

"Yes, what is it?"

He confidently replied, "A marshmallow!"

day dreaming

Time to feed the chickens!

"Here chicky, chicky..."

Haydon began to get hot so I suggested a...tea party! He enthusiastically agreed!

A captured ladybug became our guest!

What Was On Our Menu:
Real marshmallows.

crackers

Peach Ice Cream with a sprig of Peppermint.

Iced Tea

Peppermint and Golden Thyme in the tea

All enjoyed on the back porch!

"OK, enough pictures, I'm hungry!"

So concludes an enjoyable day in the life of an almost-five-year-old-boy!

Hope you enjoyed it! Have a blessed week ya'll!
